  • Responsibilities

    Under the direction of the Adult Community Clinical Service (ACCS) Program Director provides substance use disorder assessment plan, develops, coordinates, provides individual and group treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to program clients with substance use disorders. He/she provides clinical consultation to other clinicians as needed. He/she builds community relationships and networks to generate referrals. He/she functions as a clinical member of a multidisciplinary team.

    • Provides clinical substance use support for an assigned group of clients including working with ACCS team to coordinate and monitoring the activities of the individual treatment team; provide individual supportive therapy and symptom management, ensuring immediate changes are made in the treatment plans as clients’ needs change; educate and support clients’ families, and advocate for clients’ rights and preferences   
    • Works with ACCS clients utilizing Evidenced Based Practices such as Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction and Stages of Change model        
    • Documents client progress to maintain a permanent record of client activity according to established methods and procedures     
    • Provides treatment, rehabilitation, and support services, with some interventions directed or performed by staff with specialty training and skills (e.g., employment specialists)       
    • Takes the lead role or participates in providing substance use and treatment services        
    • Provides direct clinical services to clients on an individual, group, and family basis in the office and in community settings to teach behavioral symptom-management techniques to alleviate and manage symptoms not reduced with medication and to promote personal growth and development by assisting clients to adapt to and cope with internal and external stresses   
    • Provides multiple-stage individual and group treatment in the office and in community settings to develop a trusting relationship with clients so that they may more freely discuss substance use and its effect on mental and physical health and daily functioning. May participate in setting treatment goals and plans with clients to reduce or abstain from substance use and to learn replacement behaviors
    • Coordinates with outside inpatient services to detoxify clients and establish linkage to outpatient treatment, self-help programs (e.g., Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous) outpatient services, and residential facilities

        

     

               

                                                               

     

     

            

     

    Required Skills

    • Must have LADC license from the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services
    • Computer skills and adaptability

    Required Experience

    • Knowledge of local resources, specifically detox facilities, sober houses, treatment centers, suboxone/methadone clinics, and other substance use disorder services
    • Previous experience working with adults and families in an outpatient setting
    • Prior experience utilizing an Electronic Health Record preferred
    • One to two years of related experience
