    CORPORATE CONTROLLER

    PHX Architecture, located in Scottsdale and Beverly Hills is seeking a Controller to manage all accounting and finance functions, as well as assist with some aspects of human resources and office administration.

    This position will sit in the firm's North Scottsdale office and will report directly to the CEO/Owners. This position will lead accounting and finance operations and will have staff support to conduct AR/AP. This position will also lead the Human Resources and payroll operations. The ideal candidate will also have some experience with small business operations and basic human resource management. Experience working in the AEC is preferred.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Oversee and coordinate all firm-wide financial operations. Ensure financial operations function efficiently and provide direction to managers responsible for financial activities.
    • Manage full-time Accountant who administers AP/AR, project tracking, etc.
    • Directs the firm’s treasury, audit, tax, real estate, and insurance activities.
    • Manage and develop budgets; make recommendations to maximize cost efficiencies.
    • Create and maintain ongoing reports, monthly P&L, Balance Sheets, and other internal reporting.
    • Track employee compensation and benefits packages, stay abreast of industry compensation trends and ensure the company's compensation program is competitive and cost-effective.
    • Manage cash flow; investigate and report on variance findings to Principals.
    • Maintain accounting books according to GAAP principals using company accounting and project management software.
    • Manage Human Resources and payroll operations, including benefits administration.
    • Provide support with day-to-day employee relations, new hire onboarding, and other HR and personnel management.
    • Review contractor's and vendor's hours and invoices.
    • Maintain business licenses in Arizona and California.
    • Ensure compliance within various operating areas (architectural licensing, human resources, and others).
    • Help maintain banking relationships.
    • Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close of books, including, W2s, taxes, etc.
    • Approve Check run and payments; deliver report monthly to owners for audit.
    • Advise Principals regarding ongoing business transactions.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • CPA Required
    • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in finance/accounting
    • 10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience
    • 5+ years of supervisory experience
    • Advanced knowledge of Excel
    • Experience with Ajera or other project management software required
    • Experience in the architectural industry or related field preferred
