    We are looking for a SAFETY MANAGER.

     

    Provide safety leadership, implement safety initiatives, and improve safety performance through training and interaction with all Associates to help ensure compliance with established corporate safety standards, policies, and procedures that align with local, state, and federal regulations.

     

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    • Develop and deliver safety training for all Associates and roles to reduce workplace injury: partner and coach, all Managers to support and reinforce a safe work environment and safe work practices
    • Act as corporate point of contact for accident reporting. Assist with the investigation of accidents, associate injuries, incidents, and near misses to understand and recommend workplace safety improvements and partner closely with HR on workers compensation claims and Associate accidents when an injury occurs
    • Provide guidance to North Coast’s safety committees and ensure regular meetings are held and documented.
    • Conduct periodic safety inspections and audits of all North Coast locations to identify unsafe conditions or practices. Make recommendations and facilitate the implementation of effective measures to eliminate hazards and bring locations to safety compliance
    • Actively participate as a Sonepar West Region Safety Team member
    • Serve as a liaison between North Coast and Sonepar's Director of Safety to ensure adherence to corporate directives and initiatives
    • Create strategies to improve TRIR, DART, and DAFW cases consistently
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current and pending changes to local, state, and federal safety regulations and programs.

     

    WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent safety/compliance experience
    • At least five years progressive safety and compliance experience
    • Certification in OSHA or equivalent program preferred
    • Working knowledge of FMSCA/DOT & OSHA
    • Proficient use of MS Office applications; Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
    • Ability to interpret government regulations and to keep North Coast compliant
    • Excellent written, verbal, and training/presentation skills
    • Ability to work independently and interact collaboratively as part of a TEAM
    • Ability to effectively work with, coach, and influence Managers and Associates to improve safety

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Office and Warehouse
    • Frequent use of phone and computer
    • Travel to other NC locations
