    Hospital-based Emergency Services Clinician- Needham


    Excellent opportunity to join Riverside Community Care as a Relief Hospital-based Emergency Services (HBES) Clinician!

    The Hospital-based Emergency Services Clinician position is a unique partnership between Riverside Community Care and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. This role would be located in their Emergency Department and is aimed at providing high quality behavioral health evaluation, interventions and exploring diversionary options to help reduce barriers for patients. The Hospital-Based ESP team ensures that crisis evaluations are available to individuals who present to the ED with signs or symptoms of behavioral health crisis, including but not limited to a mental health disorder, substance use disorder, co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and co-occurring behavioral health and medical conditions.

    This vital role of HBES Clinician will also be responsible for:

    • Act as a liaison between the Emergency Department and Community Providers in obtaining and implementing Plans of Safe Care for patients where appropriate.
    • Provides face to face crisis interventions of patients in behavioral health and/or substance use crisis either in person or via telehealth.
    • Adheres to the Expedited Psychiatric Inpatient Admissions (EPIA) protocol and completes all Next Day Evaluations (NDE) as appropriate.
    • Ensures access to specific recovery-oriented supports, including certified peer specialists and recovery coaches. These services will be provided by the hospital.
    • Engages clients in crisis and safety planning.
    • Complete all clinical documentation as required by the program, funding sources and regulatory agencies in a complete, accurate and timely manner in compliance with agency, hospital and relevant state protocols.

    Schedule: Flexible Relief Shifts Available

    Clinical supervision is provided including licensure track hours for eligible employee. Riverside also offers an outstanding staff training program offering CEUs.

    Required Skills

    • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required.
    • Strong (Intermediate to advanced) skills in the utilization of technologies (ie Microsoft Office etc) required.
    • All other medical/vaccination/safety requirements determined by BID-Needham must be met prior to a job offer.

    Required Experience

    • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or other related Human Service field required.
    • Massachusetts professional Licensure preferred. License-eligible candidates are encouraged to apply and will be supervised by an independently licensed clinician to work towards licensure.
    • One year of experience in the field of mental health/Social Services required.
    • One year of experience in Emergency Services Programs, Hospital Social Work and/or other related Levels of Care preferred.
    • Knowledge of CBHI and CBHC Services preferred.
