    From our extensive facilities in Whittier, California and Downey, California, PIH Health serves more than two million residents in Los Angeles and Orange Counties and throughout the San Gabriel Valley.

     

    The LABORATORY ASSISTANT performs specimen procurement, accessioning, processing and testing as assigned under the supervision of a licensed Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS).  Provides phlebotomy (venipuncture and skin puncture) to inpatients and outpatients.

    Required Skills

    • Phlebotomy or skin puncture techniques on patients ranging from infancy through adult
    • Written and verbal communication
    • Basic organizational skills
    • Basic computer skills

    Required Experience

    • Experience with operating some laboratory equipment and setting up cultures preferred
    • MUST HAVE A CURRENT PHLEBOTOMY CERTIFICATION 
    • Experience with computer data entry preferred
    • Valid BLS CPR certification from the American Heart Association is required
