    The MANAGER, COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS is responsible for communicating messages in support of PIH Health enterprise to internal audiences, including board members, employees, physicians and volunteers as well as external messages such as patients, family members, elected officials and the public. The Manager, Communications and Public Relations also oversees media relations providing counsel and developing press materials. This position serves as spokesperson for the organization and oversees social media efforts for the organization and non-service line specific marketing activities for the enterprise. The position is responsible for developing and maintaining productive relationships with external groups including the media, government officials and community organizations and members. Manages PIH Health brand to maximize positive and consistent exposure of the organization to the consumer. Manages Communications and Public Relations staff and budget for area.

    Required Skills

    • Experienced leader with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Must have extensive knowledge of public and community relations strategies and tactics.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to meet and deal pleasantly and effectively with various audiences, including organizational leadership, media, the public and community groups.
    • Must possess superior project and time management skills and the ability to organize, plan daily activities and demonstrate initiative without direct supervision, completing projects under pressure of deadlines.
    • Must be able to handle numerous tasks simultaneously and efficiently.
    • A thorough understanding of the local, regional and national media markets including social and online media.
    • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with the media and community leaders.
    • Extensive knowledge of marketing and communication strategies and tactics. 
    • Strong event management skills.
    • Previous health care experience preferred.

    Required Experience

    REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor degree required; preferred in Public Relations, Journalism or Communications.
    • Five (5) years public relations or corporate communications experience, preferably in a corporate or agency setting strongly preferred.
    • Maintain a current California Driver’s License and proof of insurance.

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Two (2) years supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.
    • Masters degree a plus.
