    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Vallen’s Warehouse Supervisor is a staff management position responsible for a team of associates receiving, unloading, inspecting, picking, packing, and/or shipping goods.  They spend a majority of their time leading, guiding, and directing the work of others within a warehouse or distribution center.  They monitor associate productivity, inventory management, as well as packing and shipping accuracy to ensure quality customer service to all Vallen customers. They also assist management with ensuring all areas of assigned warehouse operations comply with internal and external safety standards or regulations.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Staff management duties include, but are not limited to: interviewing, selecting, hiring, coaching, counseling, training, delegating work assignments and assists with disciplining associates while enforcing company policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
    • Communicates daily productivity expectations while maintaining a positive and collaborative culture built on employee respect; ensures team resources are used efficiently and effectively; adjusts schedules to meet daily order requirements.
    • Encourages and promotes a high level of customer service with accurate and timely order fulfillment.
    • Evaluates associate training needs; provides training and mentorship for all functional areas of warehouse operations.
    • Ensures associates understand and follow all ISO and safety requirements.
    • Serves as a point of escalation for issue resolution and provides recommendations for corrective actions.
    • Participates in on-going process improvement initiatives and may serve as an implementation project leader; implements the use of lean tools and concepts.
    • Assists management with collecting Vallen’s standardized operating metrics(KOLPI’s – Key Operating Logistics Performance Indicators)

    • May assist in performing functional warehouse duties to meet customer order or product storage requirements as necessary and business need demands.
    • Performs other duties as requested.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of related business experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that gives the individual the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job. Experience should include:
    • Strong computer knowledge and aptitude to learn various applications mandatory; experience with a Warehouse Management System preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the various warehousing functions, such as loading, unloading, picking, packing, shipping, and moving goods throughout a distribution center/warehouse environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work orders, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Strong communication skills, effective problem-solving skills, demonstrated use of sound judgment, good organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in team oriented environment.
    • Ability to maintain composure, effectiveness, and be flexibility under pressure.
    • Demonstration of basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units to measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals); ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent preferred.
    • Ability to compile routine reports and write correspondence.
    • Ability to work in a team environment and be self-motivated to accomplish assigned tasks and goals.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Work environment may not be temperature controlled; must have the ability to work in extreme hot or cold environments; must be able to work in dusty environments.
    • Long periods of time working on a computer and performing repetitive key-boarding activities.
    • Extended day, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand and may include little to no advanced notice.
    • May be required to handle hazardous materials and wear various forms of protective equipment (shoes, gloves, protective eyewear, etc.).
    • May be required to drive a forklift and/or operate other standard warehouse equipment.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • May be required to pass forklift and/or other warehouse equipment certifications (written and/or driving).
    • Must be able to handle and work physical inventory; required to lift up to 25 lbs or greater with assistance following standard operating and safety procedures. Other physical requirements including, regularly being required to stand, walk, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, climb and balance.
    • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus are required.
