    Warehouse Associates at Independent Electric have an important role in ensuring that our customers receive their orders accurately and quickly. As a Warehouse Associate, you will prepare materials for delivery, receive new products to be stored in the warehouse, and organize the inventory.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    • Load, unload, and move materials from storage to staging sites and/or designated areas per each sales ticket.
    • Use work orders and verbal instructions to assemble materials and containers which need to be picked, moved, or staged.
    • Collect and pick all materials included customer orders using the pick ticket.
    • Package merchandise for shipment to ensure maximum efficiency and reduce damage during the shipping process.
    • Properly wrap, label, and mark material for easy identification and loading.
    • Use Eclipse to confirm picking and staging of materials, ensuring proper piece count for drivers and customers.
    • Load materials onto vehicles and properly secure cargo.
    • Unload incoming vehicles, prepare necessary receiving documents, and receive the materials.
    • Document shipments and changes in inventory using Eclipse.
    • Clean work areas, machines, and equipment on a routine basis.
    • Safely operate all the necessary equipment in the work area. Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
    • Count, weigh or measure incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records; examine incoming shipments for damage or shortages and correspond with purchasing.
    • Perform regular counting of inventory, including running off wire and inspecting items for damage.
    • Communicate when supply inventory levels are low.
    • Other duties, as assigned.

    Required Skills

    • Knowledge of automated or computerized system operation.
    • Data-entry, reporting, and recordkeeping skills.
    • Knowledge of safety practices, and wears PPE as assigned.
    • Ability to operate hand tools including wire cutting equipment.
    • Ability to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment. Must be Forklift Operation Certified after hire.
    • Knowledge of cargo securement techniques, chains, binders, straps, ropes, knots, plastic wrap, and cargo dunnage used.
    • Strong mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, including fractions and decimals.
    • Must be able to read and interpret invoices and packing slips.
    • Must be a team player and abide by IES’s strong core values and beliefs.
    • Strong communication skills both orally and in writing. Able to present information to management, customers, vendors, employees, and the public.
    • Problem-solving skills including collecting and presenting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions to solve practical problems where only limited information and standardization exists.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is preferred.

    Required Experience

    • High School diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D), or 2-4 years of related warehouse experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • At least six months of experience in a warehouse environment is required, but two to four years of experience in a related warehouse or distribution environment is preferred.

    OTHER DETAILS:

    • Typical environment is a general warehouse environment; but may include offices, light industrial, commercial, utility and manufacturing. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Will include outdoor work exposed to elements and non-conditioned warehouse spaces.
