    REGIONAL TOOL SPECIALIST

    MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA

    Regional tool specialists are responsible for generating and expanding profitable sales in tools and tool related products for Viking Electric. They do this by coordinating efforts with the marketing team as well as Viking Electric’s managers and sales associates throughout the region including individual customer sales calls and larger sales shows or events.

    Some other job duties and responsibilities include:

    • Maximize sales and profitability in the assigned tool product categories by identifying new sales opportunities with existing and new customers throughout the region.
    • Assist customers with product selection, questions or technical information as well as the resolution of any tool related issues.
    • Create and maintain a schedule to include participation in promotional sales activities, customer meetings/visits, supplier meetings, monthly department meetings and joint calls with VE sales associates and/or tool suppliers.
    • Make regular visits to all Viking Electric store locations in the assigned region to assist Tool Champions and other store personnel with store activities/events.
    • Provide support for Account Managers assigned to tech and trade schools to organize tool presentations and student purchase events as needed.
    • Keep current on supplier/ product training using a variety of training methods and opportunities.
    • Create an annual sales plan for profitable growth, using available reporting to measure regional performance. Communicate current tool sales metrics on customers, new products, potential growth markets, product issues, etc. to pertinent management.
    • Work closely with Product Management and the Marketing team to develop initiatives, marketing plans and collateral that contribute to growth in tool sales. Assist the Marketing team in the maintenance of electronic and printed tool related collateral to ensure literature offerings are relevant and current.

    Required Skills

    • Effective technical skills including troubleshooting and problem solving,
    • Able to create and follow a strategic plan for increasing sales
    • Excellent verbal & written communication skills with the ability to provide great customer service
    • Good understanding of the market, competitors, products and services is required.
    • Must possess the ability to work independently.
    • Position has a hands on aspect with a physical component.
    • Must be able to communicate with management to influence corporate decisions regarding growth and profitability of tool lines.

    Required Experience

    • Minimum two years in related product sales/application, and complete understanding of the electrical distribution and Viking Electric's customer base.
    • Previous Inside sales/Account Representative experience desired.
