    • Engage in culturally appropriate spiritual care conversations, assessing and addressing spiritual needs for people of all faith traditions and/or no spiritual affiliation.
    • Coordinate patient coverage with staff chaplains and other student chaplains on assigned units.
    • Develop collegial relationships with interdisciplinary staff on assigned units.
    • Participate in activities, special events, and services sponsored by the Spiritual Care Department.
    • Attend and participate in interdisciplinary rounds as appropriate, representing patient’s spiritual and emotional interests.
    • Respond to patient, family, and staff requests for spiritual support, getting consultation as needed.
    • Maintain accurate documentation regarding patient visitations.
    • Demonstrate PIH Health System’s vision of “Patients First” care.
    • Actively participate with Spiritual Care Department staff as a student representative member of the team in meeting and joint activities for the benefit of the hospital.
    • Actively fulfill the requirements of the CPE program.
    • Conduct one’s self in accordance with PIH Health policies and ACPE Code of Ethics.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Exemplary personal-responsibility and follow-though as demonstrated in prior roles requiring frequent self-direction, effective time management, and appropriate boundary maintenance in both inpatient and outpatient contexts.
    • Promote cooperation with other work units, ensure team members are treated fairly, encourage teamwork behaviors.

    Required Experience

    • Completion of bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
    • Completion of (or significant progress in) a graduate level theological or related degree
    • Successful completion of at least one unit of CPE
    • Chaplain Residents must be accepted into the ACPE Certified CPE program by the CPE Certified Educator
