    POSITION TITLE: SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR II

     DEPARTMENT: THE OFFICE OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY

     REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF NETWORKING AND INFRASTRUCTURE

     

     JOB SUMMARY

     The Office of Educational Technology at Georgia Gwinnett College is seeking a Systems Administrator II. The position reports to the System Administrator, Team Lead, and the Director of Server and Infrastructure. The will rotate operationally and functionally to the Support Services' Department

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Manages day-to-day administration of Linux servers, including •·web server configuration, user account management, and creating/monitoring automated tasks.

    • Manages day-to-day administration of Windows systems supporting applications such as the services required for Office365 integration (ADFS, DirSync)

    • Manages the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and equipment such as air-conditioning system, UPS (uninterrupted power system) and fire protection system

    • Administrate Linux and Windows-based enterprise computing systems within both virtual and physical environments

    • Diagnose and resolves complex system problems in all areas under time pressure

    • Performs advanced administration of existing Linux and Windows Servers with a focus on security, reliability, and scalability wit hin a VMware virtual infrastructure

    • Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources

    • Develops, documents, and improves standard practices for user account management, printing, file shares, and other resources

    • Assists Support Services department with troubleshooting more complex requests

    • Installs, modifies and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems. Provides server support related to other software.

    • May serve as a resource for Support Service's department regarding software deployment requests using endpoint management solutions such as LANDesk or SCCM

    • Provides administrator support for applications and/or tools utilized by Support Service's department

    • Troubleshoots reports of antivirus, malware and spyware detected on GGC computer or device

    • Define server policies and procedures

    • Other duties as assigned

               

    QUALIFICATIONS

     

       REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • 5 years managing server virtualization technologies like VMWare Server/ESX or Microsoft Hyper-V/Virtual Server
    • 5 years managing more than 50 Windows Server infrastructures
    • 5 years managing Backup technologies and strategies
    • 2 years managing project related deployments/rollouts
    • 2 years Project Management
    • Managing deployments/rollouts
    • Microsoft 115 administration and configuration
    • Linux/UNIX administration
    • Active Directory/LDAP user and group administration
    • Ability to troubleshoot network issues including back bone infrastructure issues
    • Ability to work independently and with minimal day-to-day supervision
    • Proven problem-solving skills in a multiple-vendor environment
    • Ideal candidate will have experience administering Linux Server systems
    • Proven problem-solving skills in a multiple-vendor environment

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on server administration in a Windows environment
    • Linux/UNIX administration
    • Ideal candidate will have 2 years Data Center experience with Disaster Recovery design and implementation
    • Ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience administering Linux Server systems
    • Ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience administering, configuring, and deploying Anti-Virus solutions
    • Ideal candidate will have intermediate hands-on server administration knowledge in a Windows/Linux environment
    • Ideal candidate will have experience administering Windows Server systems, as well as experience with System Center and VMware (or another enterprise class virtualization environment)
    • Ideal candidate will have a proven record of completing projects in Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments.
    • Ideal candidate will have technical project planning, change management and documentation skills.
    • Experience with one or more scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Perl

    Position may require local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus.   • Qualifications

    Possess knowledge of California Board of Pharmacy, Title XXII, CIHQ standards and regulations. Demostrates leadership skills that support a healthy teamwork environment. Possess team building skills, negotiation/confrontational skills, basic computer skills, organizational/time management skills, and interpersonal competence. Good verbal/written communications and ability to prioritize is required, with the ability to effectively apply this knowledge in the hospital setting. Must possess the ability to handle multiple priorities in an effective manner, identify and understand issues and problems, and potential for workflow improvement. Possess knowledge of policies governing the use of Controlled Substance, medication related polices/procedures, and ability to work in a team environment is required.
