The Senior Community Service Employment Program offers seniors the opportunity to demonstrate their work ethic, enthusiasm, loyalty and life experience empowering them to improve their economic self-sufficiency. We hire people who are customer focused, caring, bright, committed to the greater good with a strong desire to help those in need. This position is responsible for:
- Relationship building with businesses within our community
- Working with participants to develop their confidence so that they can improve their income and self-reliance
- Working with a dynamic team of employment specialists who work together to ensure participants have the skills and tools necessary to obtain employment.
- Coaching participants through challenges they face before and after they obtain employment.
- Assisting participants with outlining their skills via resume and cover letter development as well as interview preparation and job skills training.
- Documenting work with participants to ensure they are successful in their new jobs as well as coaching them on career advancement opportunities_._
- Providing superior customer service, with the ability to effectively handle competing priorities, provide positive reinforcement to a wide variety of participants with varying skill levels
- Internal auditing of participant files
- QA review of case work entered into SPARQ and Salesforce
- Monitor staff performance goals monthly
- QA retention metrics
Through your work in the SCSEP, you will have the personal opportunity to have a profound and positive impact on seniors in your own community, and improve the overall quality of our SCSEP projects.
Required Skills
- Excellent oral, written, organizational and record keeping skills.
- Working knowledge of community resources and employers.
- Experience working with persons with diverse backgrounds
- Proven interviewing, counseling, and customer service skills
- Ability to move from one task to another quickly and with ease.
- Ability to manage change with a positive attitude.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move independently or with reasonable accommodation within the facility and community.
- Applicant must be physically and mentally able to perform all requirements of the job.
- Applicant must pass a background check.
Required Experience
- 0-2 years
- Proven experience with job development and/or employment placement.
- Proven time management skills.
- High School/Equivalent
- Degree in social services or related field preferred but not required.
