The Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reconciliation and closing procedures, ensuring that transactions are sufficiently documented and accounted for in compliance with U.S. The Staff Accountant will also be in charge of income statement analyses in accordance with GAAP. This job will also assist with external audits and special initiatives as they arise.
Responsibilities
Understanding of the U.S. GAAP
Do comprehensive reconciliations of specific balance sheet accounts (third-party accounts receivable, inventory, utilities and others as deemed necessary)
Create accounting-related journal entries for designated task areas.
Assess accounting issues and propose feasible solutions. Analyze information, identify significant concerns that must be addressed, and devise action plans that successfully handle the problem at hand.
Handle given projects by prioritizing work to meet deadlines, ensuring that accounting objectives are met, and keeping the Accounting Manager up to date on project progress and issues.
Creating supporting documentation for external auditors
Maintain a high level of internal control.
Collaborate efficiently with third-party service providers (consultants, auditors)
Collaborate with other corporate functions (development, operations, and finance).
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with a specialization in Accounting/Finance; a Master's degree and CPA certification are preferred.
3 years or more of full-time accounting experience
Knowledge of GAAP
Capability to manage several, concurrent assignments
Retail, restaurant, or similar business experience with many sites in different states
Familiarity with and understanding of SEC guidelines is preferred.
Excellent Microsoft Excel abilities are necessary.
Prior knowledge of Great Plains (Dynamics GP) and Blackline is preferred.
Experience in public accounting is strongly preferred.
