    Company Overview: Professional Linguistic Upper Studies (PLUS) operates English as a Foreign Language (EFL) programs across the world. PLUS U.S. Corporation, headquartered in New York City, runs summer English language study and travel programs for international high school students across North America. The programs allow students the opportunity to take English classes and explore the surrounding regions while staying at U.S. colleges and universities. Position Overview: The Activity Leader is a seasonal, salaried and full-time position which is responsible for introducing students to American culture and engaging students during off-campus excursions exploring regional attractions and on-campus recreational activities, while providing superior customer service to all program participants. Activity Leaders work under the supervision of the Activity Manager and Assistant Activity Manager. In addition to a salaried wage, full room and board is provided for the duration of employment; residing on campus is required. PLUS U.S. employees are expected to work a flexible schedule. Night and weekend work is expected to meet the demands of the program and no vacation time can be honored during the contracted employment period. Regional travel is required and will be provided by PLUS. Employees are responsible for all travel and moving costs to and from campus location prior to and at the conclusion of their contract. Travel to excursion destinations and any work travel during the contracted period will be covered by PLUS U.S. Duties and Responsibilities: The following is expected of each Activity Leader: Standard Expectations Interact with groups of international high school students and their group leaders in a professional, enthusiastic, and customer service-oriented manner Be familiar with, adhere to, and enforce PLUS U.S. policies and procedures Ensure the safety of all participants, including taking them to the hospital, if necessary, and documenting all hospital visits for insurance purposes Be familiar with campus-specific information, including everything in the PLUS Guide Maintain frequent communication with PLUS staff Be on call every night for the duration of the program Assist with emergency situations, as needed Complete all PLUS U.S. assessments received during employment period Assist in other duties as assigned and as they arise Off-Campus Activities (Excursions) Lead groups of students and their group leaders on off-campus excursions, while providing them with information about tourist sights Conduct walking and bus tours of sights for participants according to the PLUS U.S. Guide; be familiar enough with the PLUS U.S. Guide to present the information and tours in a high-quality manner Interact with participants on the coach buses on the way to and from tourist sights, doing activities, playing games, etc. Engage with and conduct activities with students during their "free time" to explore tourist sights Coordinate and lead the trips, as instructed Supervise students on the buses and at the tourist sights Greet students and their group leaders at the airport Provide a "welcome speech" upon picking them up and coordinate with bus drivers to ensure groups are transported safely back to campus Assist with hotel check-ins and check-outs for overnight excursions Be on-duty and on-call on a rotating basis during overnight excursions at hotels On-Campus Activities Supervise, participate in, and lead on-campus activities, such as but not limited to recreation, evening programming, workshops, etc. as instructed Attend and participate in each of the following activities: talent shows, graduation ceremonies, and "Welcome Night" presentations that orient students to the PLUS U.S. program Participate in and encourage student participation in on-campus events Conduct campus tours for participants, as instructed Customer Service Liaise with group leaders, understanding and addressing their expectations and concerns Office & Miscellaneous Attend daily staff meetings Responsible for appropriate use and documentation of company card, as needed Assist in the distribution, tracking, and reconciliation of all participant per diems and/or gift cards Assist in administrative tasks Assist in participant check-in and check-out processes and changeover periods Assist in the distribution of boxed meals prior to participants' departure from campus Walk students to and from classroom buildings, as instructed Supervise students in the residence halls Be on duty on a rotating basis Qualifications and Desired Skills: Authorization to work in the U.S. required Must be 18 years or older High school diploma required Previous summer camp experience or work with minors preferred Previous international experience preferred Previous customer service experience preferred Athletic, musical, theatrical, and/or artistic talent and enthusiasm strongly preferred The successful candidates will be able to work individually and as a member of a team and have strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills. They will also have a strong work ethic, customer service and problem-solving skills, and be professional, personable, energetic, outgoing, positive, adaptable, self-motivated, proactive, creative, and able to work well under pressure.
