    Job Description

    Practice Manager, PMO

    What You’ll Do

    As a PMO Practice Manager, you are not just leading project managers, you are cultivating accountable consultants, driving delivery excellence across a diverse and complex portfolio, and enabling Burwood’s clients and internal teams to operate with clarity, alignment, and impact.

    You’ll lead a team of Project Managers, supporting their performance, growth, and delivery success. You will be a thought partner to internal stakeholders and a trusted advisor to client leadership, connecting delivery health to business outcomes and shaping the ongoing evolution of Burwood’s PMO.

    PMO Leadership & Strategy

    • Own the operational cadence of your Project Management team, including scorecard metric reviews, performance delivery measurements, forecasting health and data hygiene
    • Contribute to the evolution of Burwood’s PMO maturity model and foundational playbooks
    • Support resource planning, delivery audits and project health reviews with strategic recommendations
    • Serve as a delegated point of escalation for delivery issues and client relationship risks

    People Development and Coaching

    • Attract, develop, and retain consultative project leaders aligned to Burwood’s DNA
    • Conduct regular coaching conversations focused on ownership, risk visibility, and delivery value, not just task management
    • Foster autonomy through role clarity, feedback loop, and thoughtful delegation

    Client and Account Enablement

    • Partner with Sales, Account Executives, Executive Directors, and Solutions Architects to position PMO lead services, support strategic pursuits, and elevate delivery credibility
    • Maintain visibility into key accounts to identify risk patterns, coaching needs, or expansion opportunities
    • Translate delivery insights into business impact narratives that reinforce Burwood’s values

    Team Operation Execution

    • Team will execute project delivery, project performance monitoring and controlling activities, stakeholder reporting, and forecasting
    • You will monitor patterns, support issue triage, and help unblock delivery when systemic risks emerge
    • You will track and achieve team profitability and net income goals by maximizing the potential of team members

    The Tech Stuff

    • 10 or more years of experience in IT delivery (infrastructure and cloud), software development, and advisory projects, with at least 3 years managing Project Managers
    • Proven success coaching PMs through Waterfall and Agile delivery frameworks, and a thorough understanding of the SDLC lifecycle
    • Strong understanding of project financials (margin, utilization, forecasting)
    • Experience in navigating complex client landscapes, including verticals such as Healthcare, Manufacturing, or Higher Education
    • PMP, CSM, or equivalent certification preferred
    • You are competent in building presentations, process value mapping, workflow diagrams, & SOWs

    ** Nice To Haves:**

    • Experience in designing or maturing PMOs or delivery frameworks
    • You have experience managing or supporting initiatives anchored in M&A cycles or post-merger delivery workstreams
    • You have experience providing advisory services in the project leadership area to clients (project definition and prioritization, PMO development, PMO governance, strategic planning, roadmap development, etc.).

    Compensation packages at Burwood Group are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including work location, skillset, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. ​

    The estimated salary range for this role is ($150,000-$175,000). This role may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance. Sales roles have an additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement.
