    We are a plaintiff’s litigation law firm, located near downtown off of 59 and Kirby, with an immediate opening for a Paralegal/Legal Assistant in a fast-paced environment. This will be a salaried position with benefits. Compensation is dependent on experience. The position is full-time meaning 40 hours a week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with one hour for lunch, however additional hours will be necessary depending on the firm’s docket needs. Although the position is full-time, there is a three-month probationary period at the start of employment. We are located in a building with free parking. Our firm is a growing one that is looking for a motivated and skilled paralegal/legal assistant to grow with us. Our firm offers a team-oriented atmosphere.

    We are specifically seeking to hire a Litigation Paralegal. At least 3 years of significant and substantive litigation experience as a paralegal/legal assistant in a law firm setting required. Particularly, but not limited to, prior experience in the following areas:

    1. formatting pleadings, discovery, briefs, and other legal documents
    2. filing legal documents (e-filing skills are required)
    3. familiarity with motion practice, discovery, Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and other litigation matters
    4. communicating with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and other third parties
    5. maintaining calendars
    6. meeting deadlines
    7. proficiency in data management software
    8. working flexible hours and managing time well
    9. communicating with other members of firm on pertinent documents, other correspondence, and tasks, to ensure deadlines met

    Some college experience required. High School Diploma, required.

    Paralegal Certificate preferred, but not required.

    Experience and familiarity with personal injury client software required. Computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.

    Additional job responsibilities include general office duties, client intake, maintaining and updating databases, preparing and filing documents with various courts, analyzing and creating correspondence and other documents, organizing and storing documents within document storage software, copying, faxing, scanning, and mailing documents, billing, and contacting and following-up with clients, court personnel, insurance companies, opposing attorneys and their staff, and other third parties.

    The following key qualifications are important to us:

    BILINGUAL (ENGLISH AND SPANISH) PREFERRED.

    Ability to conduct multiple and diversified clerical support functions at the same time. Responsibly handle highly confidential legal documents and information in a discrete and confidential manner.

    Having great oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. This includes using proper grammar and spelling.

    This is a very fast-paced office with tight deadlines. Our law firm does not miss deadlines, and we do not ask for extensions from opposing counsel. As such, it is important to have a highly effective detail-oriented personality to keep tasks and appointments managed and handled appropriately.
