  • Responsibilities

    The Associate Product Specialist is responsible for providing field sales support within an assigned geography while developing to become a Product Specialist within their own territory.  The Associate Product Specialist will focus on creating new business with current accounts, past customers, identifying new prospects and assisting with maintaining outstanding relationships with current customers in assigned territories.  The APS will represent our Neurosurgery suite of medical devices, surgical instrumentation and accessories. 40-50% travel (minimum 2 overnight trips per week), is required.

    DUTIES INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO;

    • Maintain, create, develop and establish strong relationships with key customers, surgeons and hospital staff
    • Prospect new business in assigned geographic territory
    • Assist in surgeries and in-services, as needed
    • Travel to designated open territories, as needed
    • Make phone calls and schedule meetings to existing and new accounts
    • Provide additional support in ordering, transporting, scheduling and assisting with surgical instrument/products at hospitals and surgery centers
    • Act as a product support consultant to surgeons and operating room staff during surgical procedures
    • Support and contribute to the growth of revenues in assigned territories through business development activities with surgeons, hospitals and related staff
    • Work directly with PMT sales staff, customer service, marketing team and other related departments within the company headquarters
    • Other projects as needed or assigned
    • Develop the required technical, clinical and sales competencies through the completion of the sales associate development program in order to qualify and meet the expectations of becoming a Product Specialist within 18-24 month period

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Degree

    • 1-2 years business-to-business outside sales experience, preferably with the same company or organization

    • Experience in full sales cycle, from prospecting to finalized service agreement

    • Must be able to travel 50% and provide case support, as necessary

    • Entrepreneurial attitude 

    •  Demonstrate strong organizational, time-management and prioritization skills      

    • Proven record of successfully closing new business  

    • Comfortable observing medical procedures in the operating room  

    • Basic computer proficiency, particularly Microsoft Office and CRM/Netsuite  

    • Valid and current driver’s license and reliable vehicle

    • Highly organized with the capacity to prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment

    • Competency to learn and effectively articulate technical product knowledge and medical terminology in discussions with customers
