    Job Description

    In a time of unprecedented expansion, we are seeking a first-shift Safety Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will ensure that Lakeshore adheres to Occupational Health and Safety Administrative guidelines in an effort to reduce work-related injuries and provide a safe workplace environment for our associates. The position requires conducting routine inspections of floors, walkways and work areas to identify potential safety hazards, make infield corrections and report unsafe scenes or practices to the Safety Manager.

    This is an on-site position at our Carson, CA, headquarters.

    A day in the office looks like this:

    • Ensuring strict compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Administrative (OHSA) guidelines to minimize work-related injuries and foster a safe workplace environment for our employees.
    • Conducting routine inspections of floors, walkways, and work areas to identify potential safety hazards, implementing infield corrections, and promptly reporting unsafe scenes or practices to the Safety Manager.
    • Auditing fire egress and electrical panel safety according to OSHA standards
    • Collaborating with the Health and Safety Manager to support processes and identify individuals not following Lakeshore safety policies, procedures and protocols
    • Training employees in proper floor-safety practices, including proper footwear, housekeeping, safe material-handling techniques, lifting techniques, etc.
    • Conducting safety audits to ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, codes and standards
    • Utilizing problem-solving abilities to address safety-related issues, making informed decisions to mitigate risks, including evaluating alternative solutions and prioritizing actions to facilitate effective control measures.
    • Coordinating several programs including health and safety, environmental, company fleet vehicles, and building access and security
    • Maintaining records of equipment maintenance and driver standards as mandated by DOT
    • Responding to accidents and near-misses, assisting with reporting requirements and making immediate infield corrections
    • Assisting with proper documentation of incidents and near-misses using the LLM Incident Reporting Center
    • Conducting employee training seminars, auditing the workplace to ensure regulatory compliance and coordinating emergency response plans
    • Collaborating with Safety Managers, maintenance staff and external vendors to address immediate floor safety concerns
    • Helping organize and participating in monthly safety committee meetings
    • Assessing data, identifying trends and maintaining strategies to improve overall safety compliance
    • Providing support and guidance during emergencies or incidents; assisting in the implementation of evacuation plans and first aid procedures if necessary
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:

    • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications required
    • CPR/first aid training required
    • 2-3 years of experience in industrial safety, risk management, occupational health or related field required
    • Ability to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing and wearing personal protective equipment
