    LOCATION: Fort Worth or Midland, TX

    CONTEXT: Our client, an oil and gas services company, is seeking a Job Cost Accountant to provide support and technical expertise for all project accounting.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Enter and manage job accounting data, including job cost journal entries, job accounting information, and reconciliation to the GL.
    • Prepare project budget versus actual reports on major projects and work with operations on correcting entries and variance explanations.
    • Provide invoice coding support to Project Managers and perform quality control reviews to ensure proper reporting of material costs.
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP & Company Revenue Recognition Policy.
    • Review and reconcile Deferred Revenue, Revenue Accruals, Billings in Excess and Cost in Excess Accounts.
    • Based on associated contract terms, work with Project Managers to define what can be aggregated and what is best to track separately.
    • Run and review monthly project reports for accounting package.
    • Work with corporate accounting on audit questions.
    • Review fixed asset transactions, including purchases and dispositions, to ensure they are in accordance with the company’s capitalization policy and generally accepted accounting principles.
    • Record fixed asset additions in fixed asset subledger as well as calculate and record monthly depreciation on the general ledger.
    • Reconcile fixed asset subledger to the general ledger monthly to identify and resolve variances.
    • Record and properly account for Capital Leases in conjunction with the Senior Accountant.
    • Prepare capital spending and fixed asset reports for the month end reporting package.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an accounting role; or equivalent combination of education and additional experience.
    • Working knowledge of revenue recognition principles.
    • Knowledge of commercial construction project accounting, vocabulary, and work environment with a basic understanding of current industry trends.
    • Able to communicate well with all levels of employees as well as external customers and vendors.
    • Ability to work independently and perform a high level of detail with accuracy.
