    TITLE

    Compliance Specialist

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Compliance Specialist reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and is responsible for providing administrative support, review and evaluation for Compliance and Legal functions, and carrying out functions of the Corporate Compliance Program. The Compliance Specialist assists with the development of the Annual Compliance Audit Plan and Corporate Compliance policies and procedures, performs compliance auditing and monitoring activities, assists with the development and preparation of corrective action plans, maintains compliance with benchmarks and deadlines, and prepares written reports of audits. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Coordinate resources to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the Compliance Program.
    • Maintains and updates Compliance’s policy manual.
    • Notifying various departments of due date reminders on audit tasks, policy review and sign-off, and training assignments.
    • Supports compliance related improvement activities in collaboration with Compliance management when appropriate.
    • Research compliance and legal topics as requested.
      • Identifying, researching and gathering relevant information from a variety of sources;
      • Reading and interpreting complex written materials;
      • Analyzing and evaluating data, procedures, interrelated processes and other information; and
      • Formulating summary of research to Compliance or Legal team
    • Prepares compliance auditing and monitoring reports in accordance with the Compliance Program.
    • Coordinating with appropriate vendors in support of business associate agreements to ensure that all privacy concerns, requirements and responsibilities are addressed.
    • Prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective action.
    • Assisting the Compliance and Legal team in completing submissions to regulators and/or outside agencies.
    • Taking and transcribing minutes from Compliance committee meetings.
    • Scheduling meetings and managing calendars.
    • Supports ongoing monitoring of compliance key performance indicators.
    • Supports and maintains compliance databases.
    • Special projects and other duties as assigned.
    • Keeps abreast of regulatory issues.
    • Provides education and consultation to staff regarding the integration of compliance regulatory standards with programs and operations.
    • Acts as a channel of communication to direct compliance issues to appropriate resources for investigation and resolution

    • Must have strong organizational, verbal and written communication, group facilitation and interpersonal skills combined with proficient proofreading, spelling and grammar skills.
    • Must have solid analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills.
    • Must have ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
    • Requires excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
    • Strong research and communication skills, including the ability to take complex information and present in a clear and concise manner.
    • Ability to be flexible and adapt to new information, changing conditions or unexpected obstacles.
    • Self-starter with ability to work independently as well as with others, simultaneously handle multiple priorities and projects, and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to interact well with all levels of employees and coordinate with others to implement corrective action and resolve issues/concerns.
    • Familiar with Microsoft Office 365 applications (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Skype for Business) and other web-based applications.

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s Degree required.
    • 2+ years of compliance work experience, or administrative support, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Previous work experience in a health care industry preferred.
