McLeod Sports Medicine has an opening for a full-time (12-month) Certified Athletic Trainer.  Available position acts as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with a local university (no teaching duties).  The Athletic Trainer is responsible for daily practice and game coverage including management of injuries, organization and administration, implementation of sport performance programming, and record keeping. Athletic trainer will provide medical coverage for both home and away events.  Weekends and Holiday work will be required.  

The Athletic Trainer will be part of the McLeod sports medicine team following policies and procedures and working under the direction of our medical director and in conjunction with the university’s Head Athletic Trainer.  McLeod Sports Medicine employs a team of 25 athletic trainers.  Athletic Trainer must be able to work in a team setting and work in a progressive atmosphere.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

McLeod Sports Medicine is housed in a five-year old 25,000 square foot outpatient rehabilitation facility.  Our orthopedic and sports therapy services are available for individuals with acute or chronic orthopedic and sports-related conditions.  We employ six Physical Therapists, four Physical Therapy Assistants, and 25 Athletic Trainers.  Our athletic training outreach program works with public and private high schools, local colleges, and a summer collegiate baseball league.  Additionally, we have an active year-round sports performance program.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Minimum of a B.S. or B.A. degree, with certification from the Board of Certification (BOC) for athletic trainers.  Must be eligible for licensure in the state of South Carolina. CPR and AED certification also required.

SKILLS PREFERRED

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification – CSCS. CPR Instructor.
