    PATIENT ACCOUNT REPRESENTATIVE -

    JOB DESCRIPTION The Patient Account Representative is responsible for follow-up on rejected claims; assist patients with account questions demonstrating caring and compassion through verbal and written communications; review accounts that have a balance in which the patient is responsible in order to determine collection status; identify credits on accounts; maintain the billing for McLeod Physician Associate physician offices for which Physician Billing is responsible.

    Provides assistance to patients, insurance company representatives, collection agency employees and other staff members with account questions or problems related to patient or third party payments, rejections, adjustments, collections, financial status, etc.  Enters In and Out patient charges for all providers in the Companion Medical System in a timely manner set by office goals.  Works all rejected or unpaid claims.  Pre-certs, verifies and documents insurance information in patient accounts on the computer system as required by the third party payer for each patient.  Ensures that entire office staff has all the information necessary to treat, collect payment, etc. on each patient for each visit.  Validates the accuracy of patient information so that future billing and follow-up activities are conducted effectively and to assure a high degree of patient (customer) service.  Assures that any adjustments and write-offs to accounts are done according to office policy and procedure.  Maintains a suspense file of accounts that need additional information, eligibility determination and/or visit pre-certification and completes all pending accounts prior to follow-up visits by the patient.  Processes all correspondence related to insurance pre-certs, verifications, follow-up, lawyers and patients in a courteous and cooperative manner.

    WORK SCHEDULE 80 hours biweekly as scheduled

     

     

    Required Skills

    QUALIFICATIONS /TRAINING:

    • Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS/EDUCATION:

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) from an accredited school required
