Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with the Service Excellence Standards and Core Values of McLeod Health.

Performs routine manual tasks necessary to safely collect, transport, and process infectious medical waste and confidential documents.   Operates safely commercial trucks and efficiently completes all assigned duties in a safe manner and in compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation and environmental regulations and McLeod Health policies.   Operates an industrial autoclave and industrial shredder.

QUALIFICATIONS /TRAINING:

• Possesses valid South Carolina driver’s license.

• Requires the ability to read, comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.

• Requires the ability to perform basic math

• Hepatitis B, Tetanus, and other vaccinations will be required for this position.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS/EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required.

• Requires lifting, loading and transporting of up to 50 pounds of supplies and/or sealed infectious waste in bags or boxes.

• Requires the ability to exert downward push of up to 66 pounds in order to push a roll cart weighing up to 200 pounds.

• Requires the ability to safely and effectively operate hand trucks.

• Requires the ability to drive commercial trucks for distances up to 200 miles one way.
