    MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST JOB DESCRIPTION: Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. Organize and perform analysis of specimens, including quality control, using appropriate procedures. Operates instruments and equipment accurately using established protocol and quality control checks, evaluating instrument function and quality control when necessary. Evaluate validity of results. Record and report results correctly and consistently. Recognizes abnormal/unusual results and consistently follows lab procedures for reporting the results including documenting in computer action taken. Reports results within established guidelines following lab protocol based on specimen status. Performs and records corrective and preventative maintenance and instrument function checks in a consistent and timely manner per procedure. Develop personal knowledge of trends, developments and techniques through journals and trade publications, in-service and continuing education. Collect, prepare, store and/or transport specimens using correct techniques, anticoagulants and protocol. Assist in maintaining supplies. Restocks items to insure availability to staff, documents consistently the receipt and opening of a supply and stores them properly. Recognizes depletion of item and notifies appropriate personnel to reorder. Monitors the expiration dates of all supplies and reagents. Review worksheet status, technical inquiry, collection lists and print worksheets for technical and clerical accuracy and assure necessary corrections to appropriate records are made by appropriate personnel. Review worksheets for proper turn-around-times, check for technical and clerical errors. Train and document proficiency of assigned employees as directed by supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/TRAINING:

    MT - Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or in appropriate biological, chemical or physical science plus minimum of twelve months training in accredited school of medical technology or equivalent work experience. Must obtain certification within 6 months of hire

    LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:

    Certified by a recognized certification agency or certification eligible by a recognized certification agency.

    QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/TRAINING:

    MLT - Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Completion of military Medical Laboratory Specialist course Phase I and Phase II and 3 years full time acceptable clinical lab experience. Must obtain certification within 6 months of hire.

    Required Skills

    SCHEDULE: Weekends ONLY and will be for 12 hours - 7a-7p or 7p-7a Saturday and Sunday. Most of the times will be days (SAT and SUN) but may cover nights occasionally, as needed.
