The Medical Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Licensed Nurse to assist the nurse in
meeting the patient's basic needs of comfort, hygiene, and nutrition. He/She assists nurses in obtaining
data for assessment as well as assisting the nurse to provide care. The Medical Assistant frequently
assists with EKGs, point of care testing, phlebotomy, specimen collection, splinting and other tasks
associated with general organization and orderliness. The Medical Assistant does not supervise other
workers.

McLeod Urgent Care Centers offer prompt and expedient care for non-emergent conditions or illnesses and provide the following patient services: urgent care, primary care, X-rays, CT imaging, drug testing, along with occupational health. The urgent care centers consist of a dedicated staff made up of two Family Medicine physicians, a registered nurse, nursing technician, and X-ray technician. These facilities are another way that McLeod Health continues to provide medical excellence and outstanding patient care to the Florence and Darlington communities.
