Job Description:
As an LVN Telemetry (Licensed Vocational Nurse - Telemetry), you will play a crucial role in the monitoring and care of patients in a telemetry unit. Telemetry LVNs work under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians to provide continuous observation and assessment of patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall health. This position is essential for the early detection of changes in patient conditions, ensuring timely interventions and optimal patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and other relevant patient data using telemetry equipment. Recognize and report any abnormal findings promptly.
2. Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including intravenous medications, as per physician orders. Monitor patients for any adverse reactions.
3. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical exams and health histories. Document findings accurately and communicate any changes to the healthcare team.
4. Analyze telemetry data and EKG readings to identify arrhythmias or other cardiac issues. Notify the appropriate healthcare providers of critical findings.
5. Collaborate closely with registered nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans. Provide input on patient progress and response to treatment
6. Educate patients and their families on telemetry monitoring, procedures, and post-discharge care instructions.
7. Be prepared to respond to cardiac emergencies and code situations, assisting in resuscitation efforts as needed.
8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including vital signs, medications administered, and changes in condition.
9. Follow established infection control protocols to ensure a safe and sterile environment for patients.
10. Ensure proper functioning and cleanliness of telemetry equipment. Report any equipment malfunctions promptly.
11. Adhere to hospital policies and quality assurance standards, participating in quality improvement initiatives as required.
Qualifications :
- Valid LVN license in the state of California.
- Previous experience in telemetry or critical care nursing is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.
- Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
