    Job description

    As a CT Technologist at Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC) in Lynwood, CA, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic computed tomography (CT) scans on patients using specialized equipment. Your role will involve preparing patients for procedures, operating CT scanners, and ensuring high-quality images are obtained. You will work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely imaging services. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient care and safety.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform CT scans on patients by positioning them correctly and operating CT equipment. Follow established protocols and adjust scan parameters as required for different anatomical areas and diagnostic purposes. Ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures.
    • Prepare patients for CT scans, explaining the procedure, answering questions, and addressing any concerns. Obtain relevant medical history and assess for any contraindications or special considerations. Administer contrast agents as ordered, ensuring appropriate dosage and patient response monitoring.
    • Operate CT scanners and associated equipment, ensuring proper functioning and image quality. Perform regular quality control checks on the equipment, report malfunctions, and coordinate maintenance and repairs as needed. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the technology and software used in CT imaging.
    • Capture high-quality CT images, reviewing them for clarity, positioning, and diagnostic value. Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to ensure appropriate image interpretation and discuss any additional imaging needs.
    • Adhere to radiation safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self. Ensure proper use and disposal of contrast agents. Maintain accurate records of radiation dosage and patient information in compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Accurately document patient information, scan parameters, contrast usage, and any adverse reactions. Enter data into electronic medical records and maintain patient confidentiality. Complete required paperwork and participate in quality assurance activities.
    • Provide compassionate patient care, demonstrating empathy and professionalism. Communicate effectively with patients, addressing their concerns and ensuring their comfort during procedures. Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and communicate critical findings.
    • Stay updated with advances in CT imaging technology, techniques, and safety practices. Attend continuing education programs, workshops, and conferences to enhance knowledge and skills.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Valid and current certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
    • Certification in Computed Tomography (CT) by the ARRT or equivalent certification.
    • State licensure as required for CT Technologists in California.
    • Proficiency in operating CT scanners and associated equipment.
    • Strong understanding of CT imaging procedures, protocols, and techniques.
    • Knowledge of contrast administration and patient monitoring during CT scans.
    • Familiarity with radiation safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, staff, and physicians.
    • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
    • Knowledge of electronic medical records
