    Job description

    As a Respiratory Care Practitioner in California, you will play a crucial role in providing respiratory care services to patients of all ages who are experiencing respiratory disorders or conditions. You will work under the supervision of physicians and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to assess, treat, and manage respiratory-related issues. This role requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and a commitment to patient care and safety.
    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments to evaluate patients' lung function, oxygenation levels, and respiratory status. Collect and analyze patient data, including medical history, physical examination findings, and diagnostic test results. Monitor and interpret physiological parameters such as blood gases, pulse oximetry, and ventilator settings.
    • Develop individualized respiratory care plans based on patient needs, medical conditions, and physician orders. Administer therapeutic procedures and treatments, such as aerosol therapy, chest physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, and mechanical ventilation. Set up and manage respiratory equipment and devices.
    • Monitor and adjust ventilator settings, ensuring proper oxygenation and ventilation for patients requiring mechanical ventilation. Collaborate with the healthcare team to wean patients from mechanical ventilation when appropriate. Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding mechanical ventilation.
    • Participate in code blue and rapid response teams, providing immediate respiratory interventions during emergencies. Assist with airway management, resuscitation efforts, and administration of emergency medications.
    • Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, treatments, and self-management techniques. Provide instruction on the proper use and maintenance of respiratory equipment. Offer emotional support, address concerns, and promote compliance with respiratory care plans.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, treatments, and patient responses. Adhere to documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Follow infection control protocols and maintain a safe patient care environment. Adhere to evidence-based practice guidelines and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Stay updated with current respiratory care practices and advancements.
    • Collaborate with the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals, to ensure coordinated and effective patient care. Communicate patient progress, changes in condition, and concerns to the interdisciplinary team.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Valid and current Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state of California.
    • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
    • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required for certain positions.
    • Knowledge of respiratory care techniques, equipment, and protocols.
    • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment, handling multiple priorities.
    • Proficiency in using respiratory equipment and computerized charting systems.

    Compensation:

    • Total Shift Pay: $730.00
    • Gross Hourly Wage: $61.00
    • 12 Hour Shift
