  • Responsibilities

    The candidate will be responsible for R&D projects covering a variety of insulation and roofing spray polyurethane chemistry. The position will work closely with other R&D and QC Chemists as well as Field Service and Manufacturing Technicians. This position will be located in Cartersville, GA and report to the Technical Director.

     

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    • New product development
    • Scope, design and execute product performance improvement projects
    • Formulation tailoring for unique customer specifications
    • Support Manufacturing, Quality, Sales and Product Management functions
    • Operation of analytical, mechanical property and chemical processing equipment
    • Developing and implementation of quality control specifications and standards
    • Project management and documentation including laboratory notebook documentation and project report writing
    • Strong laboratory skills required including both scientific practices and housekeeping

     

    Job Specifications:

    • Bachelors of Science in Chemistry (or related technical discipline) is preferred. Candidates with other relevant industry experience may be considered
    • 5 or more years lab experience in product development/application is desirable
    • Polyurethane foam formulation experience is required
    • Understanding of polymer chemistry and structure property relationships
    • Strong mechanical aptitude
    • Hands on work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Must be a self-starter and demonstrate a strong bias toward action
    • Experience in data collection, manipulation and analysis
    • Travel up to 25%
