    • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

    • Experience: two years of relevant public policy or public agency experience.

    What You Need to Know:

    • Work Schedule: Full time, typically M-F, with ability to travel, work nights and weekends.

    • Work environment: Mixture of working in an office work environment and working directly with the community/government officials.

    • Travel: Automobile, current auto insurance, current California Driver’s License and DMV clearance required

     

    Additional Job Details:

    • Coordinates and provides tracking and analysis on legislation and budget proposals which impact programs and services provided by CCRC.

    • Attends public hearings and meetings to gather information related to public policy and regulatory implementations and briefs appropriate CCRC Leadership.

    • Under supervision, the Government Relations Specialist creates and sends correspondence related to proposed legislation and CCRC agency positions 25%

    • Accurately schedules, updates and calendars meetings with Capitol staff and members, partner associations and state agencies.

    • Maintains contact lists within identified timelines. This includes routinely checking for accuracy of all required fields, entering new information as received, deleting obsolete information, and calling to check for additional information when it is incomplete. 20%

    • Provides administrative support to the Government Relations leadership and department staff including email/written correspondence, photocopying, online searches, etc. 20%

    • Assists in internal and external agency meetings, outreach and events including annual Board Day at the Capitol, partner advocacy events and regular outreach and education to elected officials. 25%

    • Support government relations initiatives and completion of office related processes as assigned, such tasks include: 10%

    • Participating in and reporting back to leadership on meetings, hearings and coalitions working on Human Services Policy and Program issues.

    • Participating in the development of agency strategy and implementation under the direction of the Government Relations leadership.

    • Identifying potential partnerships and builds agency engagement in coalitions and associations working on Home Visiting, Foster Care, Developmental Screenings and other child and family support services.

    • Serving as department liaison to Accounting, Purchasing and other internal departments by keeping track of all purchasing requests and has general oversight of the department budget.

    • Ensures all expenditures are budgeted accurately, receive correct approvals, follow procurement policy guidelines, and purchased items are received as requested. Completes departmental credit card reconciliations accurately and on time. Keeps department members informed on budgeted vs. actual expenditures.
