  • Responsibilities

    Qualified applicants MUST have 7+ years of single-family construction experience, the majority of which should be in a field role.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for time reporting for laborers and on-site personnel.
    • Provides input on recruiting, hiring, training, and firing of laborers and other onsite personnel.
    • Trains laborers. Tests laborers on these skills as well as their ability to safely operate each piece of equipment including but is not limited to: [list of heavy equipment they test laborers on].
    • Assigns day-to-day duties on the job site according to skill sets. Ensures laborers adhere to operating policies and procedures.
    • Ensures safe working conditions. Leads by example to encourage safety and top performance.
    • Builds relationships with project staff at all levels.
    • In collaboration with other supervisors and managers, plans staffing needs. Maintains employee work schedules.
    • Responsible for communicating with PM/Owner to ensure all necessary tools and materials are on site.
    • Takes pictures and uploads to the photo stream daily.
    • Regularly and reliably provides project progress reports and overall current workload.
    • Occasionally may coordinate accommodations for crew.
    • Oversees preventative maintenance for equipment and tools to ensure operational readiness. All equipment should be properly greased, all fluids and air breather checked, switches all functional and full of fuel to be ready for operation. This includes on road vehicles as well as equipment used on job site only.

     

    Qualifications / Skills

    • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
    • One to three (1 - 3) years’ experience in a lead role.
    • Possess a valid driver license and the ability to drive a company pickup truck.
    • Ability to successfully pass a criminal history background check and/or fingerprinting.'

    • Excellent verbal communication, including the ability to interface with others, regardless of title or position within the company, in a positive, approachable, and professional manner. This includes external contacts such as client-owners, vendors , and engineering professionals.
    • Your work is a balance between efficient execution of construction plans and ensuring worker safety by taking preventative measures. The ideal candidate needs to be detail-oriented and farsighted, and ready to act in the event of an emergency.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop others, preferably through consensus building. Ability to inspire confidence and develop trust.
    • Proven ability to direct work.
    • Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload, and effectively delegate. Strong conflict resolution skills and persuasion.
    • Expert ability to operate and judge others’ safe operation of the following pieces of equipment:
    • Motivated to learn how to operate a PC (desktop and/or laptop), which may include the following peripherals: mouse, keyboard, printer, scanner, monitor(s), and external drive/CD-ROM.
    • Limited experience in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Sign and Fill. Ability to learn other functional software, which may include Rastrac, mjobtime, Procore, and Wells Fargo, as well as Gorilla Fleet Management.
