Job Description
Fast moving cut and sew manufacturing company seeking a Controller to handle high-level accounting and oversee the financial activities of the company. This role will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from payroll to tax compliance to monthly financial reporting packages. Ideally, the Controller can help with the human resource functions at the company. This position will report to the CEO and will co-lead in the development of internal control policies, procedures and financial planning as needed.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Management
· Manages all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses
· Creates, maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
· Manages payroll, GAAP financial reporting, and monthly financials packages, with financial covenant tracking
· Oversee daily cash flow tasks
· Advises on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management
· Defines, benchmarks and implements operational best practices, and evaluates and implements best cloud-based accounting solutions
Reporting
· Issues timely and complete financial statements
· Coordinates the preparation of the corporate annual report
· Recommends benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
· Calculates and issues financial and operating metrics
· Assists in the management and production of the annual budget and forecasts
· Calculates variances from the budget and reports significant issues to management
· Monitors cash and funding balances
· Provides financial analyses as needed, particularly for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
· Develops relevant KPI’s that aid in meeting the strategic objectives of the company
Compliance
· Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
· Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
· Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filing
Human Resources
· Ideally, the VP/Controller can help with human resource functions, including payroll processing and employee relations, compensation and benefits.
· Monitor HR metrics (e.g. turnover rates, cost-per-hire)
Qualifications:
· 5+ years of progressively responsible experience business finance and accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
· Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles and GAAP
· Solid exposure to financial modeling and various techniques
· Strong fluency with Excel formulas and functions
· BA or BS degree (Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance)
· Strong analytical and data gathering skills
· Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication, management, and problem-solving skills
· Experience in human resource functions is a plus
· Experience working with Private Equity is a plus
· SAP experience is a plus
