Pod 3: Community Activities & Events

We are excited to announce our new paid internship program at Filmmakers Ranch.

This is not a token internship. It is not a vague “come hang around and see what happens” situation. And it is definitely not unpaid.

This is a paid, part-time internship for people who want to be part of building one of the most exciting creative spaces in Oklahoma from the inside out. That means real shifts, real responsibilities, real expectations, and real opportunities to make your mark.

At Filmmakers Ranch, interns help shape the atmosphere of our front reception and café — the front door to the Ranch and the social heartbeat of the campus — while also going deep in one specialist area of the business that fits their interests and field of study.

The idea is simple: you will work, you will learn, you will contribute, and you will leave having actually helped build something.

We split interns into one of seven specialist pods, each designed around a different part of the Filmmakers Ranch ecosystem. Some interns may be drawn to events. Some to film programming. Some to business development. Some to the land itself. But wherever you are placed, the goal is the same: to combine practical responsibility with meaningful creative experience inside a place that feels ambitious, welcoming, stylish, and alive.

This application is for Pod 3: Community Activities & Events.

Pod 3: Community Activities & Events

    Purpose

Help make Filmmakers Ranch feel like the place where the local creative community gathers.

This pod helps create the social rhythm of the Ranch through recurring events, hosted moments, and community experiences that make the campus feel alive. Script reads. Pancake breakfasts. Open mics. Tours. Themed studio days. Mixers. Creative gatherings. The kinds of things that make people say, “There is always something happening there.”

The goal is not just to put events on a calendar. The goal is to create a genuine sense of energy, belonging, and momentum — the feeling that Filmmakers Ranch is not just a place people rent, but a place they want to return to, spend time in, and be part of.

Think less “event planning” in the corporate sense, more:
a creative clubhouse with a pulse, where people arrive for one thing, stay for another, meet someone interesting, discover a new part of the Ranch, and leave feeling more connected than when they came.

This pod helps build that feeling.

You might help shape a casual breakfast into a recurring ritual. You might help a script read feel welcoming, smart, and worth coming back to. You might help stage an open mic, guide guest flow for a mixer, support a tour, or make sure the details around an event feel polished rather than improvised. You might help turn a simple gathering into a memory people attach to the Ranch.

Done well, this pod does more than run events.
It builds belonging. It builds energy. It builds community.

    What the role looks like:

This is a part-time paid internship with scheduled shifts. We expect 4 shifts per week between 4 & 6 hours and shifts are available 7-days per week between 7.30am-9.30pm.

Interns will typically split their time between:

    Front-of-house / café shifts
Helping shape the feel of the Ranch day to day by supporting reception, café flow, guest experience, and the overall warmth and energy of the space.

    Pod-specific shifts and responsibilities
Working inside Community Activities & Events to help plan, support, organize, host, and improve the recurring social and creative life of the Ranch.

This means the role combines hospitality, event support, culture-building, coordination, and execution. You are not just observing. You are helping make the machine run.

Responsibilities in this pod may include:

Helping plan and organize recurring community events and hosted gatherings

Supporting event setup, check-in, guest flow, staging, and reset

Assisting with script reads, breakfasts, open mics, tours, themed events, and creative mixers

Helping shape the tone, atmosphere, and guest experience of each event

Coordinating with front-of-house and café operations so events feel seamless and well-hosted

Supporting run-of-show documents, checklists, guest communication, and internal handoffs

Helping track what is working, what people respond to, and what should happen again

Assisting with promotion and outreach to help events grow over time

Contributing ideas that make the Ranch feel active, welcoming, distinctive, and worth showing up for

    Who this is for:

This is for someone who loves people, energy, atmosphere, and the idea of helping a place become culturally magnetic.

You may be an aspiring producer, event coordinator, host, community builder, marketer, theatre person, filmmaker, or someone who simply has great instincts for how spaces feel and how people move through them. You might love the invisible work that makes a gathering feel easy, warm, and memorable.

You do not need to know everything. But you do need to bring energy, initiative, curiosity, follow-through, and the willingness to be useful.

Because this is a paid internship, we are looking for people who are excited not just by the idea of events, but by the responsibility of helping them work. That means showing up on time, handling responsibility well, working assigned shifts, and taking pride in helping create experiences that feel polished, welcoming, and genuinely alive.

    Why this is special:

Filmmakers Ranch is not trying to become a bland venue with a calendar full of things no one remembers.

We are building a place with a real social life.

A place where people can arrive for a pancake breakfast and leave having made three new connections.
Where a script read can become a creative ritual.
Where an open mic can reveal new talent.
Where a tour can turn a visitor into a future collaborator.
Where recurring events slowly build a true sense of community and creative gravity.

This internship is a chance to help shape that rhythm from the inside.

It is for people who want more than a line on a résumé. It is for people who want responsibility, energy, relationships, taste, momentum, and the feeling of helping create the kind of place people talk about long after they leave.

You will not be stuck at the edges. You will be in it.
