Pod 7: Land & Agriculture (Field Team: Grounds + Gardens + Stewardship)

We are excited to announce our new paid internship program at Filmmakers Ranch.

This is not a token internship. It is not a vague “come hang around and see what happens” situation. And it is definitely not unpaid.

This is a paid, part-time internship for people who want to be part of building one of the most exciting creative spaces in Oklahoma from the inside out. That means real shifts, real responsibilities, real expectations, and real opportunities to make your mark.

At Filmmakers Ranch, most interns help shape the atmosphere of our front reception and café while also going deep in one specialist area of the business that fits their interests and field of study.

Pod 7 works a little differently.

Unlike our other internship pods, the two interns in this pod are not expected to work front desk or café shifts. Their focus is entirely on pod work: shaping the outdoor world of the Ranch and helping the land itself become part of the experience.

The idea is simple: you will work, you will learn, you will contribute, and you will leave having actually helped build something.

We split interns into one of seven specialist pods, each designed around a different part of the Filmmakers Ranch ecosystem. Some interns may be drawn to events. Some to film programming. Some to business development. Some to the land itself. But wherever you are placed, the goal is the same: to combine practical responsibility with meaningful creative experience inside a place that feels ambitious, welcoming, stylish, and alive.

This application is for Pod 7: Land & Agriculture (Field Team: Grounds + Gardens + Stewardship).

    Purpose:

Help create the outdoor soul of Filmmakers Ranch.

This pod is about designing and caring for the land in a way that makes the Ranch feel cinematic, abundant, and alive. Not just maintained. Not just tidy. Thoughtfully shaped.

We want the grounds to feel like an extension of the Ranch's identity — beautiful enough to set a mood, useful enough to feed the kitchen, and alive enough to support the wider ecosystem around us.

That means herb gardens that can be picked from. Vegetable beds that contribute to the café. Pollinator-friendly planting that brings butterflies, bees, and movement into the landscape. Outdoor spaces that feel intentional, textured, and worth lingering in. And, over time, one of our favorite dreams: bee hives and Ranch honey.

    Think less groundskeeping, more:
helping design a creative campus where rosemary might brush the path, tomatoes might grow near the kitchen, wildflowers might pull pollinators into the frame, and the whole place feels cared for in a way people can sense before anyone says a word.

This pod helps build that world.

You might help shape herb beds that are both beautiful and useful. You might help plan vegetables that become part of the Ranch's daily life. You might help design planting areas that soften the property, create atmosphere, and bring more life into the space. You might help turn overlooked corners into beautiful ones, practical patches into productive ones, and outdoor areas into something people remember.

Done well, this pod does more than care for the land.
It creates beauty. It creates usefulness. It creates a feeling.

    What the role looks like:

This is a part-time paid internship with scheduled shifts. We expect 4 shifts per week between 4 & 6 hours and shifts are available 7-days per week between 7.30am-9.30pm.

Unlike the other internship pods, this role does not include front-of-house or café shifts. This pod is fully dedicated to land, gardens, edible growing, pollinator support, and outdoor stewardship across the Ranch.

This means the role combines design thinking, physical work, growing, observation, stewardship, and execution. You are not just maintaining the place. You are helping shape it.

Responsibilities in this pod may include:

Helping design and improve the look and feel of outdoor spaces across the Ranch

Maintaining gardens, beds, planters, and public-facing landscape areas

Supporting herb and vegetable garden planning, planting, upkeep, and harvesting

Helping create outdoor spaces that feel cinematic, functional, and welcoming

Supporting pollinator-friendly planting and habitat-building across the property

Assisting with seasonal beautification, watering, pruning, cleanup, and resets

Helping improve paths, entrances, gathering areas, and exterior presentation before events, tours, or important visitor moments

Supporting light agriculture, stewardship, and future bee-friendly initiatives as the program grows

Helping organize tools, materials, garden supplies, and outdoor work areas

Spotting opportunities to make the Ranch more beautiful, more abundant, and more alive over time

    Who this is for:

This is for someone who loves the idea of shaping a place through the land itself.

You may be interested in garden design, horticulture, agriculture, sustainability, ecology, outdoor design, or stewardship. You may simply be someone who notices spaces, loves growing things, and feels excited by the thought of helping create a place that is both beautiful and productive.

You do not need to know everything. But you do need to bring energy, initiative, curiosity, follow-through, and the willingness to be useful.

Because this is a paid internship, we are looking for people who are excited not just by the dream of a beautiful place, but by the work it takes to make that dream real. That means showing up on time, handling responsibility well, working assigned shifts, and taking pride in helping create a Ranch that feels thoughtful, generous, and deeply cared for.

    Why this is special:

Filmmakers Ranch is not trying to feel like a blank commercial property.

We are building a place with atmosphere.
    A place with texture.
A place with its own rhythm.

A place where the herb garden is not just decorative, but useful.
Where vegetables connect the land to the kitchen.
Where pollinator planting makes the whole campus feel more alive.
Where the dream of Ranch honey feels like part of a bigger story.
Where outdoor space is not background — it is part of the identity.

This internship is a chance to help shape that world from the inside.

It is for people who want more than a line on a résumé. It is for people who want responsibility, visible impact, beauty, real-world experience, and the satisfaction of helping create a place people can feel the moment they arrive.

You will not be stuck at the edges. You will be in it.
