POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pain Management Nurse Practitioner functions in an Advanced Practice role as a clinical expert in the caring for the patient with acute and chronic pain. Practicing within developed standardized procedures, this role implements and evaluates the plan of care and seeks to improve care through collaborative/collegial practice among caregivers/providers/disciplines. This role is also responsible for participating in the assessment, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of education and clinical development of nursing staff as related to pain management. Active involvement in pain management, symptom management, substance use disorder, and end of life care nursing education. Responsible for the development and update of hospital policies concerning pain management in accordance with state, federal, and accreditation standards. Collaborate with the healthcare team in the development of new policies and order sets to ensure comprehensive care for patients experiencing pain.
