    Position Summary

    The Paint Prep Worker is responsible for delivering high-quality painting services in both residential and commercial settings with emphasis on preparing services and materials. This role requires proficiency in various painting techniques, as well as the ability to work independently or as part of a team. This role ensures that all items are properly cleaned, sanded, masked, and ready for the application of paint or coatings, contributing to high-quality finished products.

    Responsibilities

    • Clean, sand, and prepare surfaces of parts, equipment, or structures for painting.
    • Remove rust, grease, dirt, or old paint using hand tools, power tools, or chemical solutions.
    • Mask and tape off areas that should not be painted.
    • Inspect surfaces for defects and ensure proper surface preparation.
    • Help with replacing moldings, trim, and detail pieces.
    • Assist in pre-paint blending needs.
    • Assist in mixing paint and primers.
    • Assist in operating and maintaining painting equipment and tools.
    • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment.
    • Mix and apply cleaning solutions or solvents as needed.
    • Move materials and parts to and from the paint area safely.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
    • Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
    • Assist painters as needed and perform other related duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
    • Previous experience painting and doing paint prep tasks in manufacturing, automotive, or industrial environment is a plus.
    • Basic understanding of surface preparation techniques and tools.

    Skills

    • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
    • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
    • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
    • Strong work ethic and reliability.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Basic math and measurement skills.
    • Physical stamina to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.

    Relevant Experience

    • Experience with sanding, masking, or prepping surfaces for painting is highly desirable.
    • Familiarity with safety procedures in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
    • Experience working with paints, solvents, or chemicals is an advantage.

    Physical Requirements - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in environments with exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals.

    Work Environment - Manufacturing or industrial facility; may require use of PPE such as gloves, masks, and safety glasses.

    Full Time - Non-Exempt, Hourly Employee
