As a Palo Alto Networks Consulting Engineer, you will be the expert for a specific technology or solutions vertical within our offering. You will be responsible for building Palo Alto Networks Reference Architectures based on the platform model today and in the future. The Reference Architecture must include the current products and services but be flexible to adapt to new technologies, products and services. The architecture content created by the Consulting Engineer should be designed to guide Palo Alto Networks Systems Engineers, Partners and Customers when they are designing security solutions.

    Creative Design Responsibilities:  Deliverable and Demo Design. Create user scenarios; prepare data models; design information structure, work-and data-flow, and navigation; evaluate information representation; conduct creative meetings.  Audience Analysis. Identify requirements by analyzing user needs, tasks, preferences, and work methods. Develop user profiles and personas.  Needs Alignment. Translate user behavior into media structure and elements; craft interactive experiences; produce workflow diagrams and storyboards; map into appropriate deliverables and media.  Deliverable Sets. Drive and define the content, design, and layout for reference architecture deliverables. Align with branding and legal to ensure compliance with established guidance and copyrights.  Deliverable Layouts. Oversee small teams to create a compendium for each architecture’s art and story. Define visual design, work-and dataflow, templates, standards, style, and production processes for each delivery medium. Define layouts that best present architectures and reflect brand.  Strategic Direction. While aligning with vision set forth by leadership, develop information strategy and roadmap for traditional and social media. Envision, design, and play test new consumption models. Base final decisions on market analysis and ROI projections. Content Oversight Responsibilities:  Content Authoring. Develop content as required. Define and review creative assets through production pipelines; drive toward scheduled events and releases. Assess content value and appropriateness for external consumption.  Technical Reviews. Review and edit technical content to ensure quality and message. Validate accuracy through hands on test as required.  Presentations. Using content assets, meld them into compelling presentations that convey key messages and look great.

    General Responsibilities:  Working with stakeholder in sales, product management, and marketing you will be responsible for the creation of Reference Architectures that describe how the Palo Alto Networks products work together to solve customer business problems.  Assist sales engineering in developing, presenting, and selling complex security architectures using the Palo Alto Networks Reference Architecture.  Develop collateral for sales engineers that help partners and customers understand the value that Palo Alto Networks solutions bring to their network in an Architectural approach. Content will be a Reference Architecture with uses cases and a combination of webinars, white papers, videos, solutions sheets, as required.  Leverage product/architecture subject matter expertise to convey benefits and positions to sales engineers, marketing, and product development.  Lead conversations about industry trends and emerging changes to the security landscape that every customer needs to be aware of and planning to deal with  Discuss, with credibility, competitive offers in the marketplace and positions ours as the best alternative  Interact locally and remotely with customers in an equally persuasive manner  Work with Product Management, Technical Marketing, and R&D to create requirements and product features for our large customers and provide feedback from customers  Provide demos for strategic prospects and current accounts in all facets of Palo Alto Networks virtual offerings and integration in existing data center environments  Assist in the training of new Palo Alto Networks SEs in their designated region in installs customer presentations, and internally-focused deal preparation activities

    Qualifications:  In-depth knowledge of security technologies and a proven track recording of building Reference Architecture related to the security industry and related fields.  Good understanding of Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems and scripting Demonstrable experience with systems installation, configuration, and administration of routers/switches, UNIX/Linux and Windows-based systems (prior Active Directory/LDAP experience desirable)  Experience that emphasizes L2-L4 Networking (L2 Switching architectures including Spanning Tree, IP routing including OSPF and BGP, and L4 Load balancing)  Demonstrable experience in securing these environments  In-depth technical knowledge in the area of focus for this specific CE role – both from a technology and a business driver standpoint  Experience installing and configuring virtual environments  Experience understanding threat signatures and their creation  BSCS or equivalent and 8+ years of experience as an SE or Systems Integrator  Experience selling, demonstrating, installing and troubleshooting network infrastructure security product  Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
