Job Description
The Trade Compliance and Logistics Analyst will provide operational support in Palo Alto Networks’ exports / imports compliance and order fulfillment efforts. The position requires the ability to interact with internal (e.g. Order Fulfillment, Sales Operations, Service Logistics, Legal) and external partners (e.g. channel distribution, distribution center, government agencies) at all levels on a variety of trade compliance and logistics related activities. This role requires an understanding and application of logistics practices, as well as knowledge of export and import regulations in a fast-paced environment. Activities will include, but not be limited to: sanctioned party screenings, license determinations, automation, shipment processing, routing guides, problem solving, risk assessment, and special projects. The Trade Compliance and Logistics Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, Trade Compliance and Logistics.
Review and validate purchase orders, in particular products for export, end-users, and destination countries for export license requirements
Validate sanctioned party list screening results for release
Understand and utilize Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) to ensure accuracy of import and export documentation
Provide compliant documentation to support Palo Alto Networks international shipments in accordance with BIS and CBP regulations; create commercial invoices, packing lists, and related documentation; file AES as required.
Support recordkeeping processes for import and export in accordance with BIS and CBP regulations
Ensure external transportation and logistics partners are compliant in support of Palo Alto Networks’ export compliance
Assist in development and maintenance of processes to ensure compliance with import and export laws and regulations
Assist in development and maintenance of processes and related SOP’s to ensure compliance with customer requirements
Identify import/export compliance issues and report them to management
Manage service level agreement of distribution center operations
Assist with ad hoc changes to shipment and monitor through delivery
Solve issues related to import / export clearances for all Palo Alto Networks equipment and assets
Manage service level agreement of IOR’s
Cross-train with team members to ensure best practices and worldwide coverage
Other responsibilities and projects as assigned
Qualifications
Familiarity with freight forwarding operational and best practices
5 - 7 years of experience in export and import trade compliance
Working knowledge of BIS and Export Administration Regulations
Working knowledge of CBP import regulations and the HTSUS
Previous experience in utilizing SAP
Familiarity with Google Suite
BA/BS degree preferred, experience in lieu of degree acceptable
Demonstrated track record of supporting global business operations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively and with a sense of urgency
Flexible, hardworking team player with strong people skills
Capable of working independently, in a satellite office environment, or remote from home
Outstanding attention to detail
Action and results oriented
Ability to quickly adjust priorities to meet business needs
Critical thinking and problem solving and analysis skills
