    YOUR CAREER

    We are looking for a motivated, intelligent, hardworking and creative intern to join the Product Design team within the Consumer Security Group. As a Product Design Engineering Intern, you will be part of a team that designs the next generation of consumer products to enable Palo Alto Networks industry leading cyber security software. You will be applying your mechanical engineering talents to design, analyze and test all aspects of the product in conjunction with our cross functional teams to ensure we have a sound mechanical solution that can go into mass production. You will be responsible for designing prototypes, test fixtures and learning the entire product design process throughout your time at Palo Alto Networks.  We will be relying on you to engage with the team cross functionally to review and question designs and processes to improve the way we create products as well as to learn now products go from napkin sketches to products on the shelves.

    YOUR IMPACT

    • Learn the process of  how products go from design concepts to a fully manufacturable product.

    • Gain practical knowledge on how to analyze mechanical designs for manufacturing, reliability and human factors.

    • Experience how to interface with cross functional groups including Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Industrial Design and Quality Engineering to bring a mechanical solution to engineering problems.

    YOUR EXPERIENCE 

    • Experience in building prototypes, test fixtures and tearing down competitive products.

    • Ability to tear down similar products and document design features, manufacturing processes used to make parts, and provide feedback as to pros and cons for each design.

    • Possess the drive and initiative to develop knowledge about designing parts and assemblies as well as the overarching process of how products make it to market. 

    • Excellent hands-on, communication, and teamwork skills.

    • 3D CAD experience creating models of parts, assemblies, and drawings is a plus.

    To apply, you must be pursuing a 4-year Undergraduate Degree, a 2-year Master’s Degree or a Doctorate degree and returning to school in the fall. You must have the authorization to work within the United States.
