    About You

    While this position is remote for now, Paper Culture is looking to develop an employee hub in the Bloomington, IN area, and is looking for candidates who are within driving distance to Bloomington for "in office" presence a 1-2 times a week.

    The Role

    We are looking for a skilled Controller who will be responsible for all aspects of financial management: corporate accounting, payroll, sales taxes in all 50 states, regulatory and financial reporting, budgeting, cost control and financial modeling. Additionally, the Controller will oversee benefits administration and will help review and develop our internal control policies and procedures as well as perform financial risk management.

    The position is currently part-time (hours to be discussed based on background), but could become a full-time position with the growth of the company. 

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Work under direct supervision of the CEO to manage the entire stack of company's accounting operations:  A/R, A/P, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition, GL etc. 

    • Help maintain an accurate financial picture of the companies operations at all times by creating and documenting business processes, dashboards, accounting and procurement policies etc.

    • Financial and data analysis to produce reliable forecasts for revenue, inventory, cash etc. 

    • Oversee company's month-end, quarterly and year-end close processes, especially as it relates to sales tax, corporate taxes and distributions etc. 

    • Ensure the compliance with state reporting requirements, applicable laws and tax filings; work with external accounting firm for tax preparation, distributions, etc. 

    • Payroll and Benefits administration

    • Help corporate management in budgeting and planning.

     

     

    Requirements:

    • 3+ years' experience of working as Controller or assistant Controller position, or 5+ years as a Finance Manager with experience in the above roles 

    • Expertise in the creation and optimization of accounting procedures in keeping with current standards. CPA is a plus.

    • Must have experience with general ledger functions, the month-end/year end close process and financial statements management

    • Must be detail-oriented and comfortable working on day-to-day accounting tasks as well

    • Relevant computer skills with accounting software, spreadsheets etc.

    • Job requires 95%+ time working at a computer

    • E-commerce experience will be a huge plus

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Professional certifications will be a plus.
