TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Conduct formal academic and/or dance technique classes
- Evaluate student learning, skills, and abilities; and maintain records of such evaluations
- Serve the University and the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management, including volunteer options to serve on committees
- Retain subject knowledge through continued education and practice
- Adhere to all policies within the Oklahoma City University Faculty Handbook, Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management Faculty Handbook, the OCU Student Handbook, and the Ann Lacy School of Dance & Arts Management Student Handbook
- Participate in university activities and professional organizations as a member and a leader as desired
- Choreographic duties as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Evidence of at least one (1) year professional experience in the specific dance style and/or arts management area related to teaching responsibilities.
Adjunct Artist in Residence (Dance):
- Demonstrated excellence in the appropriate dance style
Adjunct Instructor:
- Demonstrated excellence in appropriate dance style and/or arts management field
- Bachelor degree in dance and/or arts management related field
Adjunct Professor:
- Demonstrated excellence in appropriate dance style and/or arts management field
- Master degree in dance and/or arts management related field
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach.
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other business machines efficiently
- Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens.
- Sufficient vision to function in environment of low theatrical lighting during show productions.
- Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone.
- Stamina to perform theatrical show duties with extended hours if assigned.
- Work is primarily indoors, but requires the incumbent to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between campus buildings or off campus including extended periods of outdoor exposure if assigned to loading shows in or out of theaters.
- Incumbent will be exposed to frequent noise caused by telephones and office machines.
- Ability to perform sustained physical activity and demonstrate dance movements if hired for dance technique instruction.
- Ability to work in dance studios, lecture in classrooms, and perform activities in theater facilities. Work in the theater requires ability to move quickly from audience to stage areas that are at different levels in dim lighting. There is long exposure to theater and studio sound equipment volume levels.
