As a Paralegal , you will provide substantive support in catastrophic injury litigation related to trucking accidents—such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord damage, paralysis, amputation, and wrongful death. You will work closely with attorneys to manage cases from intake through resolution, ensuring clients receive the attentive, thorough representation they deserve.
Responsibilities
- Case Management & Client Support
* Maintain organized client files, track deadlines, manage correspondence.
* Prepare intake materials and assist in scheduling client consultations.
* Communicate empathetically with clients, medical providers, insurance companies, and experts during emotionally intense cases.
- Legal Research & Drafting
* Conduct legal research on federal/state trucking, insurance, and injury law.
* Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and legal memoranda under attorney supervision.
* Assist in preparing trial and settlement materials—including exhibits, witness summaries, demand packages, and chronological case outlines.
- Discovery & Investigation
* Gather and summarize medical records, accident reports, deposition transcripts, and related evidence.
* Organize discoveries, prepare responses, and manage document production.
* Coordinate with experts (medical, accident reconstruction) and arrange depositions.
- Court Filings & Logistics
* File pleadings and briefs with local and federal courts (e.g., Western/Eastern Districts of Oklahoma, 10th Circuit)
* Serve as a liaison for court-related logistics, filing systems, and procedural compliance.
- Administrative & Collaborative Tasks
* Assist with billing time entries and expense tracking.
* Support attorneys with general organization, calendaring, and paralegal team coordination.
* Uphold client confidentiality, firm policies, and ethical standards.
Qualifications
Required:
- 3–5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in personal injury or catastrophic injury litigation.
- Proficiency in legal research, drafting, discovery, and trial preparation.
- Bilingual: English and Spanish
- Reliable Transportation
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management.
- Strong communication skills—written and verbal—especially in dealing with distressed clients.
- High degree of discretion and ethical integrity in handling sensitive cases.
Preferred:
- Paralegal certification (e.g., NALA CP/CLA, NFPA RP/CRP, PACE/PCCE) or completion of an ABA‐approved paralegal program
- Experience in Oklahoma civil procedure and familiarity with federal trucking litigation.
- Background in cases involving brain injuries, spinal injuries, or wrongful death.
