Location - Uniondale, NY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Paralegal / Legal Assistant with at least 3 years of experience in defense litigation to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to attorneys handling a high-volume caseload of complex civil litigation matters. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a strong understanding of litigation procedures, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, draft, and proofread legal documents including pleadings, discovery, motions, subpoenas, and correspondence
File legal documents with state and federal courts, both electronically (e-filing) and in-person as needed
Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling court dates, depositions, and client meetings
Maintain case files, track deadlines, and manage document production
Coordinate discovery processes, including document collection, organization, and review
Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel
Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness lists, and trial notebooks
Ensure attorneys are well-prepared and equipped with necessary materials for hearings and meetings
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in defense litigation
Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and e-filing systems (state and federal)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal case management software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
Associate’s degree or equivalent legal administrative training preferred
