We are looking for a paralegal to join our growing law practice. This position is based in Lawrence, Kansas, with a flexible four-day workweek. The position is responsible for supporting team members by drafting client communications and communications to the Department of Veterans Affairs (V.A.). This position requires superior written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment. A successful candidate will be organized and accountable, follow directions, and multi-task in a collaborative environment.

The Role Requires:

• Managing a high-volume caseload;
• Communicating by telephone and email with V.A. and clients;
• Develop and apply knowledge of V.A. appellate system to client interactions;
• Navigate client cases and files to answer all status inquiries;
• Provide client-centric interactions with clients to maintain client satisfaction.
• Forward appropriate questions to the corresponding GC team members.
• Draft necessary correspondence to clients and the V.A.;
• Update case management system with all correspondence, completed work, contact information, and other information needed for record-keeping purposes;
• Ensure that all documents listed in V.A. decisions are present in client files;
• Ensure VA is working on clients' pending claims and appeals;
• Complete applications for claims and appeals;
• Attend scheduled and unscheduled meetings.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university is preferred.
• 1-2 years of work experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Customer service and office experience are preferred but not required.
• English language required
• Spanish language preferred
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat required
