We are a boutique law firm based in Oakland, California (offices in Pasadena and Sacramento) with a dynamic and complex white-collar criminal, antitrust, and civil litigation practice. We seek a motivated and detail-oriented candidate with strong problem-solving skills who can work well both independently and with our legal assistants and 7+ attorneys.
The position requires the following:
- Legal and factual research
- Prepare draft document shells and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery and similar case documents, including cite checking, proper formatting, and proofreading
- Significant experience with federal and state filing procedures, court rules, and the ability to handle large, complicated filings
- Ensure the timely and accurate calendaring of deadlines, court appearances, depositions, and meetings
- Ability to analyze, organize, and index discovery, as well as prepare discovery productions in criminal and civil state and federal cases
- Significant experience with eDiscovery software (Relativity, Reveal, Logikcull, etc.)
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with a wide range of clients
- Ability to proactively manage and communicate workload, deadlines, and competing priorities with multiple attorneys
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, PACER, Westlaw, Lexis, and the Blue Book
You will share responsibilities for administrative tasks, including:
- Engagement letters, scheduling, client billing, and travel arrangements
- Attend meetings with clients or counsel and document key points and action items
- Maintain hard copy and electronic client files
- Work with and oversee Legal Assistants
