We’re seeking a skilled and experienced paralegal to support our growing legal team. The ideal candidate for this position will use their work experience and organizational skills to prepare and maintain legal documents, file motions, interview clients, and conduct legal research. Responsibilities: • Conduct interviews with clients to gather information about their legal issues • Help lawyers prepare for trial by preparing and organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research on legal articles, and organizing and coordinating witnesses • Draft subpoenas and coordinate with process servers • Organize our case filing systems to ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate, and other administrative duties as needed • Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under the guidance of a lawyer • Ensure that all tasks are performed and deadlines met. Keep the case on track and moving at all times • Prepare legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings such as Petition packages with Disclosures, Request for Orders/motions, all aspects of discovery (propound and respond), all trial documents including briefs, witness and exhibit lists, and judgments, under the supervision of a lawyer • Communicate and work closely with Clients to gather information and documents, and to provide them with regular updates on their case • Be highly computer literate. We are a modern firm that does not use paper files except for trial binders. We use multiple computer programs/software, and need someone who is extremely comfortable learning and working with two or three monitors at a time • Skills and experience are vital, but your personality, character, intelligence, and integrity are also extremely important. We have a zero-tolerance policy for unprofessional behavior that applies to Clients as well as Employees. High-maintenance, humorless, self-entitled, or self-important individuals need not apply Qualifications: • ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired • At least 3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting • Excellent organizational skills, and time-management skills • Candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have advanced paralegal education will receive preference • Must have strong interpersonal skills and talent for writing and grammar • 3+ years of family law service experience Compensation: $47,000 - $60,000 yearly plus bonuses
