We are seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Paralegal to support attorneys and clients in the wealth preservation practice of a New York law office. This role combines legal, administrative, and financial responsibilities and requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer trust accounts, including bookkeeping, distributions, record-keeping, and preparing annual statements.
Prepare Estate and Gift Tax returns and oversee court filings, including probate and surrogate’s court submissions.
Draft trust agreements and manage trust-related payments, budgets, and beneficiary distributions.
Monitor investments and analyze monthly trust statements.
Ensure trustee and executor compliance with fiduciary obligations.
Maintain communication with trustees, grantors, beneficiaries, accountants, and financial advisors.
Collaborate effectively with attorneys, staff, and clients; assist with administrative support and reporting.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate, or equivalent relevant experience.
7+ years of experience in trust and estate administration, accounting, or tax.
Proficiency with tax and accounting software (e.g., UltraTax, Excel).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Adaptable, solutions-oriented, and able to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
