This is a salaried position $70,000 - $80,000 based on experience GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB. The Senior Product Design Engineer is responsible for assisting in implementing the research and design of new and existing products to the marketplace and the applications of products to the market. This position is a key contributor in the overall product plan implementation. This function must interact with all facets of the Parlec organization to meet intended goals. Design principles are to be used and documented in accordance with Parlec's ISO Procedures. Many of the responsible parties involved in meeting his/her goals do not report to him/her. As a result, the Senior Product Design Engineer must have excellent people skills. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned by the Engineering / Quality Manager. * Responsible for the development and execution of all relevant projects. * Perform Engineering activities on special applications for customers and research and development products. * Technical support for Parlec Internal and External sales force and end users. * Define customer requirements and assist in the creation of cost data for quotations. * Development of layout and quotation drawings for customer approval. * Assist in the development of specifications and testing product conformance to those specifications. * Ability to create manufacturing prints with knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing * Creation of technical manuals and product instructions as needed. The optimal candidate will have the following skills: * Proficient in AutoCAD Inventor * Excellent mechanical design skills * Understanding of UL, CE, and CSA compliance requirements * Strong ability to work in a team environment to reduce costs through improved design * Excellent knowledge of design for manufacturability EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Minimum: 5 years' Experience with Mechanical Design including AUTOCAD. Desired: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Design Engineering and/or 10 years of machine design experience
