    General Description:Under the general supervision of the Manager, Human Resources and Infection Control/Employee Health RN, responsible for supporting the employee health and exposure program and provide in-service education. Supports the hospital-wide Infection Control (IC) surveillance program as requested.

    Key Requirements:

    Provides Education/In-service/Training for Employees, patients and the community. To include but not limited to: New employee orientation-bloodborne pathogens. New volunteer Orientation, Patient education – pulmonary rehab. Respirator fit testing, Unit meetings, Product Evaluation: safety devices, personal protective equipment, etc. Community Service: County EMS Committee, Health Fairs and Guest Speaking.

    Responsible for developing policies/procedures related to employee absenteeism and immunization records.

    Reviews departmental policies/procedures to assure compliance with JCAHO and other regulatory agencies.

    Develops and implements hospital-wide policies to assure compliance with infection/communicable disease control.

    Coordinates/supports the Infection Control Committee and participates on the Environment of Care Safety Subcommittee, Disaster Preparedness Committee and others as needed.

    Reviews employee absenteeism to identify endemic trends, recommends corrective action.

    Employee Exposure Response: Counseling, coordinating, testing and treatment, etc. Data collection and reporting (reports to CDC, if applicable). Taking B/P and Temps of employees as needed.

    Performs daily rounds hospital wide to monitor precaution/isolation measures: refrigerators, sterilizers, biohazard containers. Ensures safety devices being utilized appropriately (personal protective equipment).

    Performs similar and related duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    Formal Education:

    Graduate of an accredited RN education program; Associate’s Degree, AND, or other two year college equivalent required.

    Work Experience:

    Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years experience.

    Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:

    State of Florida RN License, American Heart Association BCLS, Certification in Infection Control preferred. COHN certification desired.
