About Tutu School: At Tutu School, we believe in magic—creating it for children through our enchanting ballet classes and for entrepreneurs through a business model that thrives on creativity and joy. We’re a growing network of boutique ballet schools for children aged 6 months to 8 years old, and we’re looking for a passionate and driven Accounting Manager to join our team in this newly created role.

About the Role: This is a unique opportunity to step into the first in-house finance role at Tutu School’s Twirlquarters (home office). You’ll be our go-to expert for all things accounting, working closely with our leadership team and supporting both our franchise business and our four brand studios. We’re looking for someone who’s as comfortable in QuickBooks as they are building processes from the ground up and who’s excited to grow alongside us. Whether you prefer to work remotely or in-person, full-time or part-time, we’re open to finding the right fit for your skills and schedule. We care more about finding someone thoughtful and talented than fitting into a traditional full-time box.

    What You’ll Do:

    Key Responsibilities:

    Financial Reporting & Compliance

Maintain accurate and timely books for the franchisor and all brand-owned studios

Lead the monthly close and prepare internal financial statements

Ensure alignment with GAAP and support external audits, tax prep, and reporting

    Revenue Management & Royalty Oversight

Manage invoicing and tracking of franchise fees and royalties with support from an operations associate

Maintain deferred revenue schedules and ensure accurate revenue recognition

Conduct spot checks to validate franchisee financial submissions

    Franchisee Financial Support & Benchmarking

Create and share tools, templates, and dashboards to support franchisee financial tracking

Collaborate with the team to create resources for franchisees on key metrics and financial best practices

Monitor and share systemwide benchmarks to promote healthy unit economics

    Corporate Unit Financial Management

Oversee accounting for brand-owned studios, including studio-level P&Ls

Reconcile sales, payroll, and operating expenses by studio

Collaborate with operations to improve profitability at the studio level

    Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning

Partner with leadership to manage the annual budget and forecasts

Support scenario planning and financial modeling for key initiatives

Help evaluate financial impact of strategic decisions

    Cash Flow & Treasury

Monitor cash flow and support short- and long-term cash planning

Manage vendor payments, banking relationships, and disbursement approvals

    Support collections and cash optimization

    Payroll & Benefits Accounting

Coordinate payroll and benefits with external payroll provider

Reconcile payroll data and ensure proper cost allocation in the GL

Track and support compliance with wage, PTO, and benefits regulations

    Process Optimization & Controls

Develop and document standard processes and internal controls

Streamline recurring workflows and automate where possible

Help maintain a secure, scalable financial infrastructure

    Business Decision Support

Provide financial insights to support growth strategies

Contribute to performance dashboards and KPI tracking

    What We’re Looking For:

5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a multi-unit or franchise environment

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus

Familiarity with accrual-based accounting, revenue recognition, payroll, retail, and royalty billing

    Strong organizational and communication skills

Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel; bonus points for experience with Classbug, FranConnect, or platforms like Gusto, Shopify, or Square

A proactive, independent approach and comfortable balancing structure with flexibility

Why You’ll Love Working With Us + Benefits:

Paid time off (PTO), holidays, and sick leave

    Paid parental leave

    Health, dental, and vision insurance

    401(k) retirement savings plan

    Flexible schedule and remote-friendly culture

A meaningful mission and values-driven tea

The opportunity to help shape the financial systems of a company that’s growing with intention and heart

At Tutu School, we’re building something special and we’d love for you to be part of it.

Flexible work from home options available.
